Elon Musk says SpaceX will land human on Mars within 5.5 years

Elon Musk recently appeared on Clubhouse and talked about a wide variety of topics which includes colonization of Mars, UFO, Neuralink, and the latest Gamestop & RobinHood stuff.

When Musk was asked about the Colonization of Mars and what SpaceX is upto, Elon Musk assures that SpaceX will land humans on Mars within 5.5 years which means within 2026. A few months ago Elon Musk said that “If we get lucky, maybe four years,” Musk said, speaking on an award show webcast from Berlin, Germany. “We want to send an uncrewed vehicle there in two years.”

To make that SpaceX is building Starship which aims to be the first fully-reusable orbital launch vehicle in the world, capable of placing 100+ metric tons (~220,000 lb) of cargo into low Earth orbit (LEO) at a cost of just a few million dollars per launch. Musk’s aim is to make Starship fully reusable — envisioning a rocket that is more akin to a commercial airplane, with short turnaround times between flights where the only major cost is fuel.

I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A SELF-SUSTAINING CITY ON MARS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I MEAN, I AM OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE ON EARTH BUT IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE INSURANCE FOR LIFE AS A WHOLE,” – ELON MUSK.

Elon Musk also stated that it generally takes about 6 months to get to Mars and SpaceX is planning to bring this required time down to just a month. Before SpaceX launch any human, they are planning to launch two uncrewed mission to Mars most possibly in 2022.
